Why do we do what we do, and how can it benefit you?
Modern life can be challenging, with many competing pressures and demands, and we can all have problems we want to solve, situations we want to address, or goals we want to pursue (either personal or professional, and in relation to practical matters or wellbeing). Whether we are wanting to achieve our goals and ambitions, are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, or simply wanting to access a regular reflective space so we can take stock of our situation, we can all sometimes benefit from the opportunity to talk things through with a skilled and qualified listener and questioner. Someone who can:
This isn’t something only some people require; who among us does not sometimes need or benefit from a safe, confidential space to talk things through? (We include ourselves in this!). |
Our reflective conversations/relationships
Our vision is for people to be able to access such support when they need it, at a proactive and preventative stage before things escalate (this is sometimes called intervening ‘upstream’). Our vision is to normalise the process of ‘checking in’, taking stock, and talking things through with someone external to our situations to help us keep on track and/or to regain clarity. The more we all get used to regularly doing this, the better.
In our approach to our work with people, we want people to: Get in touch with their strengths; experience a sense of renewal or balance; feel that they are being ‘held’ or grounded to a degree; maintain and enhance their resilience & wellbeing; experience a feeling of connection; tap into or explore their motivation; and feel left with a sense that they/things are moving forward. We illustrate this in the short two-minute film, below (optional viewing, but perhaps a welcome two minutes of peace and mindfulness in the day!):

What we want you to experience: A two-minute film.
Bespoke non-pathologising support from registered/accredited psychologists.
This is why we, as qualified, experienced and accredited psychologists, offer a range of bespoke helping relationships (consultation, coaching, coaching workshops, supervision, coach supervision) to support people to move towards these outcomes, all of which are informed by evidence-based psychological approaches and are delivered by drawing on coaching psychology, positive psychology, and other approaches as relevant.
We believe that this can be achieved without people being labelled, perceived as deficient in some way, or their behaviours being unnecessarily pathologised when context is often such an important influence on our thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Indeed, sometimes one of the greatest strengths we can show is being willing and reflective enough to talk with someone and to holistically examine both ourselves and our circumstances – especially at an early stage. At the same time, we recognise that sometimes people might need to be referred on to other forms of support, and as qualified and experienced psychologists we are well-placed to notice when that might be the case (if we think this might be the case for you, you will be the first person we talk to about it!). |
Aspen Coaching Psychology Workshops
Another aspect of our vision is that we want to put psychology in the hands of others so people develop the skills they need to help themselves or each other. This is why we offer a range of psychology-informed training events that enhance people’s ability to support others with their performance, development, resilience and wellbeing. In our view, the more effective ‘helpers’ there are in the world, the better – especially in these days when prompt access to quality services can be problematic. Our vision is to increase the ‘helping’ skill and capacity of people and organizations so they can become more self-sustaining and experience the benefits of applied psychological approaches.
