Coaching
Coaching is a personalised helping relationship that will support you to move towards your goals, or to process and plan your way through events and situations (e.g. changes and challenges). APS coaching psychologists can provide you with a safe, confidential, supportive-but-challenging relationship in which you can think through aspects of your work and/or life situation with a non-judgemental sounding board. We will listen carefully, ask questions to support your thinking and action-planning, and enable you to find a way forward that works for you and which draws upon/is informed by your existing strengths and successes. Sometimes, if it's appropriate and wanted, we will add ideas to the pot for you to consider.

Goal-achievement and decision-making
Modern work and living can be fast-paced and demanding, and time to reflect and plan can be hard to come by. Coaching can give you valuable time and space to identify goals you want to achieve, celebrate and learn from your successes, think through issues you are facing, explore options, and plan how to move forward. Our aim is to help you find enhanced clarity, direction and focus, with a sense of feeling motivated, reinvigorated and empowered.

Resilience
Bumps and curveballs are an inevitable feature of life's journey, and our resilience in the face of change, challenge or adversity can sometimes vary. Coaching can give you an opportunity to: (i) talk through the challenges you are facing with a skilled listener; (ii) reflect on your strengths and resources and how you can utilise them; (iii) consider resilience from different psychological perspectives and use that learning to strengthen or develop coping strategies.
|
Wellbeing
We must look after ourselves if we are to be able to give our best to others. Coaching can give you an opportunity to: (i) reflect on your wellbeing and factors affecting it; (ii) clarify what you are already doing that is wellbeing-enhancing and, if appropriate, how you might do more of it; (iii) apply a simple-but-effective psychological framework to inform planning of new wellbeing-enhancing actions.
|
Managing Change or Transitions
Times of change and/or transition can be exciting or demanding (sometimes both!), arousing a range of possible emotions, thoughts, and responses. Coaching can give you an opportunity to, for example: (i) talk through your current situation and relevant factors; (ii) explore what you can and cannot change or influence; (iii) consider your reactions to changes and uncertainties; and (iv) plan practical ways forward.

What people have said about Aspen coaching...
"[The coaching relationship] allowed us to tackle a number of difficult issues in confidence... The sessions have provided me with the space I needed to develop certain aspects of my leadership." - Executive Principal.
"[APS Coach]'s work with [Coachee] has substantially increased her confidence as a leader. It has also given her the tools she needs to become an outstanding one. [The coach] enabled her to see the resources and strength she had inside herself and the strategies to use them effectively." - Head Teacher.
"You empower staff with this approach, no matter their role. The way in which the staff have been supported through this type of model has helped them to recognize the importance of reflecting in order to move forward and set goals. Also, I feel you challenge the staff to further develop their practice and, because they feel empowered and confident, they rise to that challenge." - Primary School Assistant Head Teacher.
"This was the most positive experience of my teaching career so far. I felt that the coaching was focused completely on what I did well and how this can be developed or used more so that I improve further." - Secondary School Teacher.
