APS Training/Events

APS events draw upon psychology to enhance your proficiency at helping yourself or others.  They are designed for, for example:

  • Practitioners who are seeking to develop their proficiency at coaching.
  • People who may not be formally coaching, but who wish to draw upon psychological principles and approaches so they can enhance their own or others' performance, development and/or wellbeing.

This includes: coaches; psychologists; teachers; leaders; managers; mentors; consultants; and advisors.

Enhancing Performance, Development & Wellbeing in Schools with Coaching & Coaching Psychology

1, 2 or 3 days of training in coaching and coaching psychology principles and skills for education practitioners.

Applied in educational contexts, the practice of coaching psychology can have a positive impact by supporting young people and adults to achieve enhanced standards of functioning and wellbeing.

However, coaching psychology is not just for psychologists - the principles and techniques can be readily learned and applied by education practitioners themselves.

APS is now offering teams and organizations the opportunity to commission 1, 2 or 3 days of training in coaching and coaching psychology skills and principles.

​​We will travel to your preferred location and deliver a programme of coaching training that is designed to meet the needs of your team or group (see below for a sample programme).

If desired, you can market the training to other practitioners in your area to help cover costs.

The training is suitable for education practitioners, psychologists, coaches, mentors, consultants, leaders and managers.  Basically, anyone who works in education with an interest or investment in helping others to change & develop.

​Day 1: Essential Coaching Foundations
  • Learn the foundation principles and skills for facilitating effective coaching conversations with a range of client groups.
  • Explore relevant professional issues (e.g. contracting, ethics) so you can coach with confidence.

Day 2: Coaching Psychology Part 1
  • What is coaching psychology?
  • Solution-Focused Coaching.  Learn techniques and principles for helping others to harness their strengths and successes in pursuit of their preferred futures.
  • Coaching with Motivational Interviewing.  Learn how to work with others in a way that elicits their own intrinsic motivation to change.
  • Non-judgemental Lesson Observation.  Learn how to use coaching principles and skills to support education practitioners to develop their classroom practice (includes a video of a real-life coaching session).

Day 3: Coaching Psychology Part 2
  • Cognitive-Behavioural Coaching.  Learn how to help others to recognise, challenge and transform self-limiting beliefs that might be impacting on performance, development, wellbeing & resilience.
  • Differentiating your Approach.  Learn structured frameworks and models that can guide your selection of approach according to the needs of the coachee.  Plan how to address both practical and psychological barriers to change.
  • Applications.  Consider a range of practical applications for coaching psychology in schools.
